Code of professional ethics

Every member firm agrees to abide by this code when they join and reaffirms it at each annual renewal.

  1. Honest dealing. Members shall conduct their business with shippers, carriers and one another with honesty and in good faith.
  2. Regulatory compliance. Members shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the United States, including those administered by CBP, the FMC, TSA, FDA, USDA and other relevant agencies.
  3. Confidentiality. Members shall treat shipper information and competitive data shared within Alliance forums as confidential.
  4. Fair competition. Members shall not engage in deceptive pricing, kickbacks, undisclosed conflicts of interest or anti-competitive practices.
  5. Professional development. Members shall maintain the technical and regulatory knowledge expected of a professional freight intermediary.
  6. Safety and security. Members shall not knowingly handle freight that is misdeclared or that poses an undue risk to the public, to crews or to other cargo.
  7. Respect. Members shall conduct themselves respectfully in Alliance forums, at events and in the directory.
  8. Reporting. Members are encouraged to report suspected breaches to the Ethics Committee, in writing, at the address below.

Reports may be submitted in confidence to ceo@digitalforwardersalliance.com. Material breaches may result in suspension or termination of membership after review by the Ethics Committee.
