Code of professional ethics
Every member firm agrees to abide by this code when they join and reaffirms it at each annual renewal.
- Honest dealing. Members shall conduct their business with shippers, carriers and one another with honesty and in good faith.
- Regulatory compliance. Members shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the United States, including those administered by CBP, the FMC, TSA, FDA, USDA and other relevant agencies.
- Confidentiality. Members shall treat shipper information and competitive data shared within Alliance forums as confidential.
- Fair competition. Members shall not engage in deceptive pricing, kickbacks, undisclosed conflicts of interest or anti-competitive practices.
- Professional development. Members shall maintain the technical and regulatory knowledge expected of a professional freight intermediary.
- Safety and security. Members shall not knowingly handle freight that is misdeclared or that poses an undue risk to the public, to crews or to other cargo.
- Respect. Members shall conduct themselves respectfully in Alliance forums, at events and in the directory.
- Reporting. Members are encouraged to report suspected breaches to the Ethics Committee, in writing, at the address below.
Reports may be submitted in confidence to ceo@digitalforwardersalliance.com. Material breaches may result in suspension or termination of membership after review by the Ethics Committee.
